Program Notes
Corni Angelicus
Corni Angelicus is a project founded by Peggy Moran, Professor of Horn at UCO, and Jack Helsley, a bassist most recently a member of the National Touring Company of Dear Evan Hansen. This innovative ensemble expands both the musical horizons of horn in jazz and diversifies the set of composers writing for the horn in jazz. Moran and Helsley commissioned six works in 2023 for the ensemble and premiered the music in March 2023 in Indianapolis and shared a second performance at the International Horn Society in July 2023. These performances have been called a “special night of unique creative expressions” and a “game changing experience” for the performers and audience alike. A Midwest Tour in March 2024 will include performances at the University of Illinois and Indiana University.
