Dr. Vanessa Bentley: Feminist Research Practices In Cognitive Neuroscience
Looking at common research practices in the neuroimaging of sex/gender differences in two cases, the structure of the corpus callosum and brain function during the mental rotation task, I identify how a core assumption, sex essentialism, distorts and limits scientific understanding. Sex essentialism is the view that men and women are essentially different due to their sex.
